Carolina vs. Vegas Game 6 betting analysis

In Game 5 in Carolina, the Canes beat the Golden Knights 4-2, giving up an early goal before scoring four unanswered.

For the Canes, Andrei Svechnikov lit the lamp twice, and Nikolaj Ehlers had three assists. Pavel Dorofeyev scored both goals for Vegas.

Attack needs to come back

After scoring five goals in the two wins in the series, the Golden Knights have totaled only five goals in losing the last two. Back at home and down 3-2, they need to press the issue on offense, as the defense has been less than stellar. In the last two games, Vegas has only totaled 46 shots on goal.

Hart not cutting it

Carter Hart had been playing well in the playoffs, but not so much in this series. He has a solid 2.59 goals-against average in the playoffs, but he has allowed four goals in every game of the Cup Final. Hart must pick it up in between the pipes, especially if the attack continues to struggle.

Can Vegas contain Staal?

Jordan Stall is the first player since 1956 to score a goal in the first five games of the Stanley Cup Final. He can become the first player to ever tally in each of the first six. Vegas has allowed the veteran to score six goals in the series after he tallied 20 goals in the regular season.

Full turnaround

Frederik Andersen had started every game in the playoffs for the Canes but was yanked in Game 3, where he gave up three goals in the second period. Since getting the call, rookie Brandon Bussi has been solid and, in the last two Carolina wins, has allowed just five goals. He will likely get the call, and Andersen may be a healthy scratch again.

Stay out of the box

The Golden Knights have struggled on the penalty kill throughout the series. In the last two games, they have given up three power-play goals. While they need to stay aggressive, they also need to stay out of the box, as the Canes have pounced on their power-play opportunities.

PlayersBest prediction: Hurricanes moneyline (-115)

Carolina has seized the momentum, winning the last two games while limiting mistakes and shots against. The Canes have a rookie in goal and a wily veteran crushing it on the attack. They have scored at least four goals in four of five games in the series, and have only surrendered five total goals over the last two games.

The Hurricanes will continue to play mistake-free, and Hart will continue to allow goals, giving Carolina the Game 6 win and the Stanley Cup.

Golden Knights vs. Hurricanes Game 6 player prop picks

Here are some of the player prop picks we like at DraftKings Sportsbook heading into a pivotal Game 6 matchup:

  • Jordan Staal +1 goals (+320) – Pretty solid odds for a player who has lit the lamp in every game of the Cup Final.
  • Brett Howden 1+ goals (+245) – Good value here as Vegas will likely press the issue on the attack. Howden has the most playoff goals in the league and four in the series.
  • Brandon Bussi Over 22.5 saves – The rookie netminder had 23 saves in the last game and will see a lot of shots in this one.
