All popular online sportsbooks offer prop bets on whether a player will hit a home run in their next MLB game. It's not easy to pick a player to go yard, so you will typically get great value for these wagers.
For our MLB home run predictions today, on June 17, we have done a little handicapping to give you some insight on three players who could go deep today.
MLB home run predictions today
All MLB home run prediction odds listed below are from DraftKings Sportsbook.
Pete Alonso (+405)
Alonso is a good value at +405 to hit a home run, as his Baltimore Orioles are in the Great Northwest to take on the Seattle Mariners.
Alonso is having a solid first season with the Orioles and leads them in home runs (16) and RBIs (48). He has three home runs in the last five games and has gone yard five times this month.
Seattle will be starting George Kirby (5-6, 4.07, 1.01 WHIP), who has not been sharp in his last few starts and has given up four home runs in his last five outings. His best pitch is a four-seam fastball, and with Alonso’s compact swing, he has a solid chance to go deep in this AL matchup.
Brandon Lowe (+293)
The Pittsburgh Pirates are on the left coast to take on the Athletics, and in the opener of the interleague series, the Pirates got the win and had three home runs. One of those homers was from Brandon Lowe, who leads the Bucs with 18 home runs.
The Athletics will start Aaron Civale (5-2, 4.20 ERA, 1.47 WHIP), who is just off the 15-day IL with shoulder issues. In his last three starts, he has been tattooed, giving up a whopping eight home runs.
A couple of other factors why we like the MLB home run prediction odds for Brandon Lowe are:
- The Athletics bullpen only ranks 25th in the Majors in bullpen ERA and has given up 34 home runs.
- Until the Athletics move to Las Vegas in 2028, they are playing at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento, California, which has given up the second-most home runs this season.
Ben Rice (+406)
Great odds for the Yankees’ slugger, who had a home run in the series-opening 12-2 rout over the Chicago White Sox. Ben Rice has gone yard in each of the last two games and is tied for fourth in the Majors with 20 home runs.
Anthony Kay (6-1, 4.34 ERA, 1.42 WHIP) takes the hill for the White Sox in Game 2 of this AL series, and he has given up four home runs over his last four starts.
Rice is a lefty and likes to pull the ball, which is advantageous for home runs since the Yankees’ right field wall, known as the Short Porch, is only 314 feet from home plate.
Chicago’s bullpen only ranks 19th in bullpen ERA, and that unit has given up the seventh most home runs.
