MLB home run predictions today (June 23)

Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper leads our MLB home run picks today.

Phillies’ Bryce Harper (+358)

With the Phillies in the Nation’s Capital to face the Washington Nationals, you would think the best bet would be Kyle Schwarber to go yard, as he leads the Majors in home runs (29) and has four in the last two games. However, he is at +185, which is not the best value.

On the flip side, Bryce Harper (17 home runs) has good value at +358 and has a home run in two of the last three games

Zack Littell (6-6, 5.45 ERA, 1.38 WHIP) gets the start for the Nationals after giving up three home runs in his last start and one in the outing before that. His season debut was against the Phillies, where he surrendered two home runs.

Also, Washington, which ranks 23rd in bullpen ERA, has allowed the most home runs (55) by any bullpen by a wide margin.

Orioles’ Pete Alonso (+300)

Pete Alonso is a solid value at +300 to hit a home run, as the Baltimore Orioles are on the West Coast to face the Los Angeles Angels.

Alonso leads the Orioles with 18 home runs and ranks 12th in the Majors in that category. He has seven home runs in 19 games this month and has gone deep in two of the last four.

Ryan Johnson (0-2, 12.83 ERA, 2.33 WHIP) gets the nod for the Angels, and he has given up two home runs in each of his last two starts.

The L.A. bullpen has given up the seventh most home runs (42) in the Majors.

Extra value pick: Orioles’ Gunner Henderson (+346) ranks second for the Orioles with 16 home runs and has two in his last six games.

Rockies’ TJ Rumfield (+690)

While Hunter Goodman (+284 to hit a home run) leads the Rockies with 21 home runs, TJ Rumfield has better value to go yard with the Colorado Rockies hosting the Boston Red Sox is a hitter-friendly ballpark.

Rumfield is +690 to go deep, ranks second on the club with 12 dingers, and has four home runs over the last eight games

Boston will send out Sonny Gray (8-1, 3.13 ERA, 1.18 WHIP), and he has been one of the few bright spots for a Red Sox team that has the fewest wins in the American League. He has pitched well this season, but has given up two dingers in two of his last three starts.

The Red Sox rank a solid third in bullpen ERA across the Majors, but that unit has still given up 32 home runs.
