The Vegas Golden Knights scored an upset in Game 1 with a 4-2 win, and the Colorado Avalanche will look to tie the series on home ice.
Caesars Sportsbook has the Avs as the pretty heavy moneyline favorites at -180, with the total set at 6 goals, but it won't be easy for Colorado to get back into this series.
Our Golden Knights vs. Avalanche prediction, odds analysis, and favorite player props are here to help bettors gain the insights they need.

Taking home ice
With the 4-2 win in Game 1 of the Western Conference final, the Golden Knights now have home ice advantage in the series.
Vegas jumped out to a 3-0 lead and got the win despite being outshot 38-28 and giving the puck away 24 times.
The Golden Knights have now won three in a row, and they had lost to the Avs in two of the three regular-season games.
Golden Knights vs. Avalanche betting analysis
The Avalanche need to shore up their blue line, a task made more difficult by the absence of superstar defenseman Cale Makar.
While defenseman Sam Malinski recently returned after missing two games, the loss of Makar is huge, and he is listed as day-to-day.
Get back to scoring
The Avs were the highest-scoring team in the regular season (3.63 goals per game) and have been the highest-scoring team in the playoffs (3.90 goals per game). They had scored nine goals in the two games before Game 1 and at least four goals in six of their previous seven games.
Nathan MacKinnon (7 playoff goals) needs to spearhead the attack, and he had lit the lamp in six straight games before failing to do so in the last one.
Dynamic duos getting it done
Colorado has a tall task ahead, especially without Makar, against the two dynamic duos for Vegas, who have been hot in the playoffs.
Mitch Marner and Jack Eichel rank first and second in the playoffs with 19 points and 16 points, respectively. Pavel Dorofeyev and Brett Howden rank first and second in the playoffs with 10 and nine goals, respectively.
Dorofeyev has six goals in the last four games, and Marner, who also ranks third in the playoffs with seven goals, has four goals and six assists in the last five games.
Hart has been a rock
The Avalanche could not crack Vegas netminder Carter Hart (9-4-0, 2.37 GAA, .920 save %) in Game 1, and he has been hot between the pipes. In the last three games, he has given up only five goals on 106 shots.
Wedgewood needs to bounce back
Colorado starter Scott Wedgewood (7-2-0, 2.21 GAA, .911 save %) began the playoffs playing well, only allowing five goals in the first four games. In the five games since, he has given up at least three goals three times, including twice in the last three.
PlayersBest prediction: Golden Knights moneyline (+160)
The Golden Knights took Game 1 of this series as big underdogs, and they will do it again. Their top players are hot, the defense has been solid recently, and their attack has tallied 12 goals over three consecutive wins.
Vegas will get the upset win again and take a 2-0 lead as the series moves to Sin City.
Avalanche vs. Golden Knights Game 2 player prop picks
Here are some of the player prop picks we like at FanDuel Sportsbook:
- Pavel Dorofeyev anytime goal scorer (+200) – The forward leads the playoffs with 10 goals and has found the back of the net six times in the last four games. He has multiple goals in two of the last three games and is +1400 to score 2+ goals.
- Nathan MacKinnon 2+ shots in 1st period (+150) – Good value here, as the Avs’ leader will come out firing in Game 2.
