ECF coming off another close one

Game 3 of the Eastern Conference final was the second straight game in which the Canes beat the Habs 3-2 in overtime.

Shayne Gostisbehere and Taylor Hall scored in regulation, Andrei Svechnikov played the hero with the overtime goal, and Carolina nearly tripled Montreal's chances, outshooting them 38-13.

Hurricanes vs. Canadiens Game 4 betting analysis

After being upset in a bad 6-2 loss in Game 1 of the series, the Hurricanes have only allowed two goals in each of the last two games. They are not giving up many scoring opportunities, allowing only 25 total shots on goal over the last two games.

Killing it in extra time

The Canes have come up big when it counts. They've won the last two games in overtime and are 5-0 in the playoffs with the extra period.

Habs must ramp up the pressure

Alex Newhook, Juraj Slafkovsky, and Cole Caufield have combined for 18 goals in the playoffs, and they need to up the pressure on the attack.

In the series, the Habs have been outshot 92-47, and they need to put more pressure on Frederik Andersen (10-1, 1.56 GAA, .923 save %) to stay alive.

Andersen played well in the first two series, but has not been as good this series. OK, so he only gave up two goals in each of the last two games, but he only faced 25 shots. For the series, his save percentage is a less than stellar .814.

Dobes needs help

This ties into the above section, as Jakub Dobes (9-8-0, 2.50 GAA, .910 save %) needs help from the Montreal attack.

In Game 3, he stopped 35 of 38 shots, and over the three games, he has seen nearly twice as many shots as Andersen. The sheer volume of shots has been key. Montreal is down 2-1 despite Andersen's save percentage being nearly 100 points less than Dobes's in the series.

A team game

The Hurricanes are getting it done as a team, and Logan Stankoven is the only player with more than four playoff goals (seven). Taylor Hall leads them with 13 points in the playoffs, and the goal in Game 3 was his first point of the series.

Canes have the momentum

The Canes are hot, winning the last two games after losing all three regular-season games against the Habs, plus Game 1.

Online sportsbooks give the Canes the best odds to win the Stanley Cup (-110), with the Habs at +950, and the Western Conference champion Vegas Golden Knights at +120.

Turn it around at home

The Habs need to win Game 4 on home ice, or they will be going back to Carolina in a 3-1 series hole.

Unfortunately, they have lost their last three — and four of five — home games.

PlayersBest pick: Hurricanes moneyline (-150)

The Canes have a 2-1 lead and have played well in the last two contests, making few of the uncharacteristic mistakes they made in Game 1. They have come up with more clutch plays and have limited the Habs shots. That will continue in Game 4, as Carolina will be in control again and will win, taking a commanding 3-1 series lead.

Canes vs. Habs Game 4 player prop picks

Here are some of the Game 4 player props we like at BetMGM Sportsbook

  • Frederik Andersen Under 20.5 saves (-120) – We took this prop bet for Game 3 and won, and it will happen again with Andersen only facing 25 total shots over the last two games.
  • Taylor Hall 3+ shots (+125) – The winger had just one shot in each of the first two games of the series, but had seven in the last game, and he has at least three shots in four of the last six.
