Spurs vs. Thunder Game 7 betting analysis

The Spurs came out blazing in the 118-91 win over the Thunder in Game 6, where they outscored OKC by 13 points in the first quarter. Victor Wembanyama had 28 points and 10 rebounds, and Stephon Castle was an assist shy of a double-double with 17 points and nine dimes.

The Wemby factor

Obviously, Wembanyama is the key player for the Spurs, and the Thunder’s big men have to do their job in Game 7, prohibiting him from having a big game.

In OKC’s three wins in the series, Wemby has been limited to 22.3 points per game. In their three losses, he averaged 34 points per game.

What’s up with the MVP?

Like Wemby, how MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander goes is how OKC goes. He scored 29.3 ppg in the three Thunder wins while averaging only 19.3 in the three losses.

SGA is shooting just 37.6% from the floor in the series and, after scoring at least 20 points in 140 straight regular-season games, has failed to crack 20 points in two of the last three games of this series.

Home cooking

The Thunder have failed to shoot over 37% from the floor in their last two road games, but have shot 48% in their last two home games.

Alex Caruso's scoring is needed, but he had only seven points in Game 6. In the last two home games, Caruso has totaled 39 points, while only scoring seven points in the last two road games.

Can Fox help out?

The Spurs won Game 6 with a big game from Wemby, and the backcourt trio of Castle, Dylan Harper, and Devin Vassell combined for 47 points. De'Aaron Fox has not looked good in the finals and missed two games with an ankle injury. His veteran play is needed in Game 7. Over the last three games, he has averaged only 8.7 ppg on 26.9% shooting.

The top online sportsbooks still have the Thunder with the best odds to win the NBA Finals (+125), followed by the Knicks at +210, and the Spurs at +220.

PlayersBest prediction: Thunder -3.5

The home team has won the last three games of the series and looks to do so again. The Thunder have resembled a different team at home, and they will shoot better back in their house.

SGA has not shot well in this series, but will have a solid Game 7. In two home Game 7s in last season’s playoffs, he combined for 64 points.

The Thunder have the experience and home-court advantage. If SGA bounces back, OKC will win and cover, booking their ticket back to the finals.
