2026 NFL MVP Odds: Former Winner Josh Allen Leads the Pack

The NFL offseason is in full swing, and the top online sportsbooks have futures bets available, including NFL MVP odds.

Matthew Stafford won the MVP award last season, and while he decided to come back for another year, the Los Angeles Rams quarterback barely cracked the top 10 in 2026 NFL MVP odds.

At BetMGM Sportsbook, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen currently has the best odds to win NFL MVP at +600, and he's followed by a group of other star QBs. Baltimore Ravens' Lamar Jackson (+700), Los Angeles Chargers' Justin Herbert (+900), New England Patriots' Drake Maye (+1000), Cincinnati Bengals' Joe Burrow (+1000), and Kansas City Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes (+1000) round out the top six.

Betting favorites in odds to win the NFL MVP Award

The NFL Most Valuable Player award usually goes to a quarterback, so it's no surprise to see some of the top pivots leading the NFL MVP odds for the 2026-27 season.

Here are the biggest names in NFL MVP futures this offseason.

Josh Allen (+600)

Allen was named league MVP in 2024 and has the best odds to reclaim the award this season. The Bills QB posted solid numbers in 2025, but his 25 passing touchdowns were his fewest since 2019. He was also sacked a career-high 40 times and needs to stay upright more often this season.

Buffalo has upgraded Allen's supporting cast this offseason, bringing in wide receiver D.J. Moore to give Allen a legitimate playmaker. It also added center Lloyd Cushenberry and overhauled the coaching staff.

Lamar Jackson (+700)

Two-time MVP Jackson needs to rebound from last season for the Ravens to become contenders in the Super Bowl odds. He missed four games, ranked ninth in QBR, and had his lowest rushing numbers since his rookie season.

Justin Herbert (+900)

Herbert has a new offensive coordinator in Mike McDaniels and will get his two star tackles back after both were lost for the season last season due to injuries.

For Herbert to win MVP, he needs to commit fewer turnovers and pass for more than the 26 touchdowns he had last season.

Drake Maye (+1000)

Maye missed out on last season’s MVP award by one vote and led the Patriots to the Super Bowl.

To win the award in 2026, he needs to repeat or improve upon a terrific sophomore season. Maye ranked first in QBR, had the fourth most passing yards, and passed for the third most touchdowns in the NFL.

Joe Burrow (+1000)

Burrow missed nine games during an injury-plagued 2025 season. After missing several games in two of the last three seasons, he needs to stay healthy to have a shot at MVP.

In his last full season in 2024, Burrow passed for nearly 5,000 yards and finished fourth in the NFL MVP voting.

Three more veterans in the NFL MVP mix

Other veteran quarterbacks are in the mix for the MVP award this season, and each comes with questions entering the season:

  • Can two-time MVP winner Patrick Mahomes (+1000) recover from his knee injury and start the season under center? With bookmakers expecting big things, Mahomes leads NFL Comeback Player of the Year odds by a healthy margin heading into the season.
  • Can Dak Prescott (+1200) stay healthy and get some defensive help?
  • Will Stafford (+1400) repeat his MVP-winning season, in which he led the league in passing yards and touchdowns?

Positional players with a shot at MVP

A non-QB hasn't won the coveted award since Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson took it home in 2012.

The positional players that have the best NFL MVP odds at BetMGM are still major longshots in Falcons running back Bijan Robinson (+8000), Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs (+10000), and Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua (+10000).

If you're expecting big things from this trio, Robinson and Gibbs lead NFL Offensive Player of the Year odds and are safer bets in that market.

NFL MVP sleeper picks

Here are some of our favorite sleeper picks to win the MVP:

  • Jayden Daniels (+2000) – The 2024 Offensive Rookie of the Year looks to bounce back after missing nine games last season due to injury.
  • Trevor Lawrence (+2000) – Can the Prince Who Was Promised put it all together, coming off his best season, where he finished fifth in MVP voting?
  • Jared Goff (+4000) – Had the second most passing yards and touchdowns last season, but ranked only 18th in QBR.
  • Christian McCaffrey (+25000) – Major longshot odds for a star player who finished fourth in MVP voting in 2025.

NFL MVP prediction: Josh Allen (+600)

Josh Allen has the best odds to win NFL MVP, and we're taking him to win the award this season. Allen is in his prime and regarded as the best quarterback in the league.

As a dual-threat QB who scores more rushing touchdowns than many of the top running backs in the game, Allen's always in contention for MVP. The addition of a true No. 1 wide receiver will push him over the top this year, helping the Bills' passing attack reach the next level.

This is how he has finished in the last five MVP races:

  • 2025 – 3rd
  • 2024 – Won the MVP
  • 2023 – 5th
  • 2022 – 3rd
  • 2021 – 2nd
