Today’s Best MLB Bets and Parlay Picks (June 5): Red Sox Score an Upset

Every MLB team is in action during a packed Friday slate leading into the weekend.

We break down today's best MLB bets you can place at online sportsbooks, including a same game parlay (SGP) for a Los Angeles vs. Los Angeles matchup. 

Boston Red Sox +125 @ New York Yankees 

The Red Sox (26-35) are in the basement of the AL East while the Yankees (37-25) are in second place in the division, only a half-game out of first place. Still, we like the underdog Red Sox in this series opener mainly because of the pitching matchup. 

Sonny Gray (6-1, 3.01 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) goes for the Red Sox, and he has been one of the few bright spots for the club this season. Boston has won five of his last six starts, and he has not given up more than one run in any of those wins. In the one loss in that span, he surrendered three runs. 

Ryan Weathers (2-3, 3.52 ERA, 1.14 WHIP) takes the hill for the Yankees, and in two of his last three starts, including the last one, he gave up five runs. 

The Yankees also took a big hit recently, as slugger and reigning AL MVP Aaron Judge will miss significant time with a rib injury.

Milwaukee Brewers @ Colorado Rockies: Over 11.5 runs (-110) 

While 11.5 runs is a very high total, and Colorado starter Ryan Felton (2-1, 4.85 ERA, 1.31 WHIP) has been pitching well recently, this game will be far from a pitcher’s duel. Milwaukee starter Brandon Sproat (1-4, 6.24 ERA, 1.53 WHIP) has an ERA north of 6.00 and gave up five runs in his last start. The Rockies’ bullpen ranks fifth last in the Majors in bullpen ERA. 

• The total has gone Over in three of the Brewers' last four games, where the average number of runs scored was 16.7.
• The total has gone Over in the last four games for the Rockies, where the average number of runs scored was 16.8.

It's no shock that the Rockies rank dead last in the Majors in ERA, as that has been the norm for the last few seasons. In four of the last six games at Colorado, the Rockies have given up at least eight runs four times, and they have given up double-digit runs in three of their last eight games. 

In Colorado, where the ball sails and runs are aplenty, one of today's best MLB bets is the Over in the series opener.
