There are teams who are hitting blistering form and then there is Man United and Spurs, 2 teams who desperately need to get back to winning ways if they are to achieve the heights the fans demand of them.
Having watched the recent fixtures of these 2 sides, I couldn’t help but feel for the managers. Both Ole and Nuno are under increasing levels of pressure as they continue to stumble in the league.
In all honesty, it’s pretty difficult to get a read on Spurs right now. Firstly, Harry Kane has had one of his worst starts to a season for some time but appeared to be coming good with a hat trick in the Conference League and then a goal and an assist against Newcastle. Spurs looked like they were stopping the rot with 2 wins on the spin but since then they have been beaten by Vitesse in the Conference League and by West ham in the Premier League. They then went on to snatch a 1-0 win against Burnley in the League Cup. Things are clearly in a state of inconsistency for Spurs right now and Nuno will be looking to steady the ship by piling more misery onto United and Solskjær.
What can I say about this United side that hasn’t been repeated ad nauseam in the past few weeks. A season that started with immense hope and excitement has been curtailed by a string of poor results and lackluster tactical nous from Solskjær. The recent weeks of moans and groans about the side finally came to a head when United were blown away 0- 5 by a devastating Liverpool at Old Trafford. There have already been calls for Solskjær to be sacked but the United board are still behind their man. If United take a heavy beating at the hands of a mediocre Spurs side, will Ole’s luck continue? I just can’t see it which makes this an absolute must win for Solskjær and his team on Saturday.
United have actually enjoyed a fairly good record against Spurs in the recent past but in the last 10 fixtures, this match up has been closely contested. United have won 5 while Spurs have 4 with a draw being played out on only one occasion. For my Premier League betting tips, I’m not going to read too much into their head to head history on this occasion as it’s really all about how these 2 teams are coming into this fixture right now.
The statistical highlights are crucial to my Premier League betting tips UK for any fixture. I use these stats to help inform my betting tips at all times. You can find these statistical highlights below to see where I have drawn some of my inspiration from.
Right, so where do we go from here? Do we put it all on a Spurs win? Or perhaps United use this fixture as the perfect launch pad to kick start their season. It could go either way but when I really look at what has happened in recent weeks, I quite fancy Spurs to topple United this weekend. I would go with a Spurs win but if you are looking to spice up the betting market, I would go with Heung Min Son to score first.
As much as I hate to say it, it seems that the United players are simply not behind Ole at this point. We’ve heard that they respect him as a man but that his training and tactics are that of a manager who is clearly out of his depth. This could be the final straw that breaks the camel’s back for Solskjær as I can’t se a way back for him should his side be beaten convincingly on Saturday.
As for Spurs, they are not exactly setting the league on fire right now either but a win here would see any pressure on Nuno be lifted by a significant degree. They haven’t been playing the free flowing stuff that they were under Pochettino but I think it will be enough to put United to the sword yet again on Saturday.
