The Premier League is home to the most exciting football in the galaxy but even by its own high standards, this gameweek is set to be particularly enthralling. The standout fixture in a strong field is Chelsea vs Tottenham on Sunday.

Recent form analysis

Here, master meets apprentice with the experienced Spurs boss Jose Mourinho, locking horns with his former player, Frank Lampard. Both clubs have made great starts to the season, making this London derby particularly tough to call. However, PlayersBest’s expert team of football tipsters is here to help you secure a win this weekend.

Chelsea Are Strong at the Back

Last season, Lampard led Chelsea to the worst defensive record in their modern history. All in all, the Blues conceded 54 times in the league, a worse record than any other team in the top ten. However, since the arrival of Eduoard Mendy, Thiago Silva and Ben Chilwell, they have looked increasingly solid, registering four clean sheets already this season. The back four will face their toughest test yet against Tottenham but if they can keep a clean sheet, you would back a team containing a host of attacking talent, including the likes of Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and Mason Mount, to grab a goal and win the game.

Tottenham Can’t Stop Scoring

The one year anniversary of Jose Mourinho taking over a Spurs’ passed recently and what a year it’s been. Only Liverpool and Manchester City have enjoyed a better Premier League record since the Portuguese took over – amid a tidal wave of criticism. Key to the Lilywhites’ recent success has been the incredible form of their forward line. Spearheaded by Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, they have already netted 21 times this season. This has included a 6-1 win over Manchester United and most recently, a statement 2-0 win over Manchester City. Mourinho will be desperate to get one over on his former club on Sunday and in current form, we wouldn’t put it past him.

Head to Head

Historically, Chelsea have enjoyed a clear advantage in this fixture. In 167 previous encounters between the two sides, the Blues have won 72, while Tottenham have been victorious on 55 occasions. 40 of the games have ended in a draw. The most famous recent encounter came in May 2016, in a match dubbed the Battle of the Bridge. It was a seriously bad tempered affair with referee Mark Clattenburg brandishing 12 yellow cards in total. Eden Hazard bagged a late equaliser for Chelsea in 2-2 and the result ended Spurs’ title hopes. Even more recent results seem to suggest Lampard’s side are favourites, as they have won four of the last five meetings.

Our Betting Tip for Today

Both sides boast significant attacking strength so they’ll be goals. However, the two sides are even and this, combined with our statistical analysis, means we’re tipping a draw with both teams to score.

Too Close to Call

Both of these sides have started the season superbly and possess two of the best forward lines in the world. However, for all of the attacking prowess we will witness on Sunday, there will also be a great deal of defensive weakness. Because of this, we are expecting goals – lots of them to be honest.

Can either team really expect to get the upper hand and secure all three points? We’ve done some star gazing and have to conclude that the answer to that is… no. Both managers will be desperate to make a statement in the title race by getting the win, but we expect a high scoring game that will ultimately end all square.

Those looking to take advantage of our tips should head over to Betsson. They are offering a draw and both teams to score at a very generous 483/100.
