Hacksaw Gaming started out creating instant win games, before moving on to develop slots too. Stick’Em was an early release, but with Stack’em, the follow up slot, the developers have dialled things up a notch or two. Just like in the original, Canny the can stands alongside the reels, only in this upgrade he’s joined by a mouse. Cute animations add some extra fun, and there’s a 1930s vibe going on thanks to the slot’s design and accompanying soundtrack.
Stack’em plays out across five reels and six rows, with a Cluster Pays mechanic in place of the usual paylines. Stake from as little as $0.20 up to $100 per spin, and you’ll be in with a chance of landing the top payout of 10,000x your stake. So if you won the top payout while playing at $1 per spin you’d walk away with $10,000. Now that’s a result we’d like to see!
Before wagering real money on any online slot, make sure you check out its RTP first. If you’re not sure why that’s so important, we’ve got RTP explained in a separate video, so be sure to take a look. It’s easy to find out the RTP of any slot game by searching online using the slot’s name, followed by ‘RTP’. The RTP for Stack’em comes in at 96.20%, which compares well to the industry average of 96%.
It’s also important to choose games with the right volatility to suit your playing style and your bankroll. In the case of Stack’em, there’s a high volatility rating, meaning there are big wins to be had, but there could be big losses too. If you’re not sure how that might impact your gambling funds, try some Stack’em demo games before putting any of your own cash on the table.
Lower paying game symbols take the form of the letters A, G, E, R and T. which pay up to $25 for clusters of 25 or more matching symbols. Higher returns come from the leaf, bird, skull and snake symbols, all of which pay up to 100x your stake. The top payouts come from matching thumbs up symbols, which awards you up to 200x your wager for clusters of 25 or more on the grid.
The game also features a Wild symbol, although this doesn’t have a value on its own. It can substitute for all other game symbols though, except for the free spins Scatter, so it can help you to create winning combinations.
There are no paylines or Ways to Win in Stack’em, as the game uses a Cluster Pays mechanic. Match five or more symbols vertically and / or horizontally to win a cash prize, as shown on the game’s paytable. But rather than all winning symbols disappearing to be replaced by new ones, in this game the opposite happens!
All non-winning symbols are cleared from the grid, so your winning symbols land at the bottom of the reels. Now a multiplier is added below each reel, with its value determined by the number of symbols on that reel. New symbols drop down, and further wins are also evaluated, with non-winning symbols removed. Reel multipliers increase according to the number of symbols on that reel before the Tumble feature activates to add new ones.
At the end of the Tumble feature, all multipliers gathered from wins are added together, to create a win multiplier that could be worth up to 30x. Then it’s straight on with the next spin to see what lies ahead!
The mouse icon is the game’s Scatter symbol, and you’ll need to land three in view to activate the free spins bonus round. Be sure to pay really close attention during this feature, as this is where you can hit the game’s 10,000 mix winning potential!
The feature starts with 5 free spins, each one represented by a heart above the reels. Keep an eye on your win multiplier, as whenever a cluster hits in free spins, it increases by the number of winning symbols. And there are two additional symbols to watch out for during the free spins round too:
It can take ages sometimes for the free spins bonus round to spin up in a high volatility slot. Hacksaw Gaming have relieved the frustration by including a bonus buy option. Pay 129x your current wager to have instant access to the free spins bonus round – although there’s no guarantee you’ll win back the cost of triggering the feature, so be cautious!
In our opinion, the exciting, but volatile, gameplay in Stack’em makes it best suited to high rollers, risk takers and thrill seekers. But if that’s not you, it doesn’t mean you can’t try out the game anyway – just look for free to play games, which are usually available at all the best online casinos – and you can find the full details right here on our site!
If you decide to spin the reels using real money, remember to always gamble responsibly. Playing online slots doesn’t always go to plan, so only ever wager with money you can afford to lose, and always set spending limits before every gaming session.
