The big story across the NBA this past week has been numerous teams having almost their entire rosters enter Covid protocols which have resulted in games being canceled in some situations. The NBA has shifted some games around and the Nets and Blazers game got canceled after 10 players on the Nets roster was in Covid protocols.
This week we do have some big games on tap highlighted by the Christmas Day matchups between some of the top teams in the league. Let’s take a look at the updated title odds, MVP race, top games this week, and prop bets.

Joel Embiid is a player to keep an eye on in the MVP race
Steph Curry is still the favorite to take home the MVP this year and he looks like he has turned back the clock a few years with the way he is playing. Kevin Durant is also back to his old form and has the Nets in a great position to win the East. Joel Embiid is a player to keep an eye on that could be a contender to win MVP if Curry or Durant miss anytime to injury this year and Embiid leads the Sixers to one of the top spots in the East.
The Nets still have a firm grip on the best odds to win the title this year and they got a big boost when it was announced that Kyrie Irving would be allowed to play in road games away from the Barclay Center. A healthy Irving and Durant and Harden facing off against a Warriors or Suns team in the finals would create one of the most intriguing Finals in a while.
The Heat, Bucks, and Nets look like they are starting to create some separation from the rest of the pack in the East and one of these three teams will likely be the team that gets out of the East. Keep an eye on the Bulls +1200 and the 76ers +1000 as teams that have the talent to make a deep run in the Eastern Conference.
The Warriors and Suns have the best records in the league and it is difficult to see any other team in the West that could beat either team in a 7 game playoff series. The Lakers at +550 may not be a horrible value due to the experience the Lakers have and the likelihood that they will try to make a trade to shake up their roster before the deadline. If the Lakers can find a way to get Damian Lillard and an additional shooter, they could be right back in the mix by the time the playoffs come around.

Ja Morant is one of the most exciting players in the league
The Grizzlies take on the Warriors on Thursday in a big Western Conference matchup and should make for an exciting watch. The Grizzlies are 19-13 and currently fourth in the West and get very little attention nationally due to the fact that they play in small market Memphis. Ja Morant is averaging 24 points per game and is emerging as one of the league’s next superstars. If the Grizzlies can pull off a big road win in Golden State I think the Grizzlies will finally start to get the attention they deserve.
