Michigan Online Gambling Revenue Down in April, Says MGCB

Michigan online gambling revenue declined in April 2026 compared to the previous month.

According to a Michigan Gambling Control Board release, iGaming operators reported $371 million in gross receipts covering casino and online sports betting. That was slightly down on March’s take but up overall year over year.

Sports betting hit hardest in latest Michigan figures

According to the latest MGCB report, sports betting took the brunt of the drop in gaming receipts.

  • Monthly handle for sports betting down 5%
  • Adjusted gross receipts down 8.7% for the year

Oddly, the drop followed a record month for online sports betting in Michigan in March. Adjusted gross receipts for March were up over 26% on the previous month.

Michigan online casino revenue takes up the slack

Despite the relative woes of Michigan sportsbooks, online casinos in the state offered a different tale.

In all, online casinos in the Great Lakes State made $303.4 million, up over 22% year over year. That was down from March revenue ($322.1 million), but still marks the third-highest total for online casino revenue since the state legalized iGaming.

Additionally, Detroit casinos reported a stronger revenue uptick.

Adjusted gaming receipts for April were $868,546, according to the newest MGCB figures. That marked a 3.3% increase on March, and a $520,859 rise year over year.

bet365 shows future is bright for Michigan online gambling

The month marked the entry of bet365 Casino and Sportsbook into Michigan.

In addition to casino games, the bet365 Sportsbook accepts wagers on dozens of sports.

bet365 was also named official betting partner of the Tigers and Red Wings. It operates as the main platform provider for the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians following The Stars Group’s exit from Michigan.

The U.K. betting giant is now live in 17 U.S. states.

DraftKings sees continued decline in Michigan

While rivals like FanDuel and BetMGM continue to impress in Michigan, one of the big hitters has seen its market share decline.

DraftKings Casino saw a 9.5% year-over-year drop in gaming revenue. That marked the second month in a row in which overall casino revenue was down.

DraftKings is experiencing a bumpy month, with another retail sportsbook closure hitting its margins.

This month, DraftKings announced the closure of its retail sportsbook at Wrigley Field after just two years.
