The Packers are coming off of their first round bye and will play a hot 49ers team, who are on a three game winning streak. Their last matchup was against the Cowboys in Dallas where they won 23-17. The game ended in a wild way where instead of taking two shots of the end zone, Dak Prescott decided to run a 17 yard quarter back draw. The Cowboys could not come back to the line in time and get the ball set by a ref, and the game ended on a bad decision. The 49ers looked good however, rushing for 168 yards against Dallas’ fourth best rushing defense in the League. The Niners defense sacked the Cowboys five times and held the high-power offense to only 17 points with an interception. That lead to incumbent rusher and rookie Trey Sermon to get the lion’s share of rushes. Sermon played the next week in the same circumstances, but only played in one other game (and only at 35% snaps). This game was also before they started using Deebo Samuel as a hybrid running back/wide receiver-super threat.
For example, last week alone Deebo & Eljah Mitchell rushed for over 160 yards against the Cowboys who ranked third in the rushing defense the last third of the season. This week they will rush against the Packers who have a league average rushing defense. The 49ers at Packers will be a rematch that will play out differently with the 49ers renewed run game.

San Francisco has covered the spread six of nine away games this year, and in the three games they were marked underdogs this year, they beat the spread in two of them. The Packers on the other hand, only have a 17.6% rate of covering the spread after a loss this season.
With the reemergence of Elijah Mitchell and Deebo Samuel dictating the pace of game with the run, the 49ers are on a three game winning streak beating the upsetters in Houston, Division Champion Rams, & 12-5 Cowboys. With such a cold matchup, this game will be won on the ground. Furthermore, the 49ers embarrassed AJ Dillon last matchup with only 18 yards on six carries.
The Packers are good at home, but in their last five games they barely beat Chicago, Baltimore (who went for two and lost the game), Cleveland, Minnesota (against their backup QB), & they did lose to Detroit (though they rested a lot of starters). It’ll be a hard matchup in Green Bay, but the 49ers match up well.

Since the halfway point of the season, Kittle has found the end zone six times. Last time he played the Packers he caught seven passes for 92 yards. Furthermore, in the latter third of the year Green Bay is the fourth worst team defending tight ends and is 2nd worst defending them in the red zone.
