The Titans and Bengals kick things off the Divisional round on Saturday AM and it looks like this game has one of the best chances for an upset this weekend. The Bengals won their first playoff game in 30 years last week against the Raiders 26-19 to bring some much-needed joy to long-suffering Bengals fans.
The Bengals have been a laughing stock in the last few decades but they look like a team that will be contending in the AFC for years to come with one of the games best young QBs in Joe Burrow. Burrow and the Bengals offense have been hot down the stretch winning 4 of 5 and facing a Titans team that will be well-rested after having a bye last week. The Titans stadium will be rocking in Nashville Saturday
The big mystery heading into Saturday’s game is the status of Titans RB Derrick Henry and how much he will be able to play on Saturday. Henry is one of the game’s most dominant players when healthy and has been out since week 9. Henry was cleared for contact this past week but the Titans haven’t said much about what extent Henry will play. I have a feeling Henry will be ready to go in one of the biggest games in Titans history.
Ryan Tannehill has struggled some this year after a big year last year where he threw for 33 touchdowns. The Bengals are going to do all they can to slow down the Titans run game and make Tannehill beat them on Saturday. Tannehill will have to step up and put up a solid performance to keep up with the Bengals explosive offense. The Bengals are playing with a ton of confidence and I think they have a great chance to pull off the road upset in this game. How well both QB’s play early should give a good direction on the type of game we will likely see.
The Titans are only 3.5 point favorites despite being the top seed in the AFC which shows you how much the oddsmakers respect this Titans team. If Henry looks like he will be full speed before the game I wouldn’t be shocked to see the spread get up to 5 or 6 points. Henry is that good of a player and can totally take over a game and dictate the pace of play when healthy.
I like the odds for either Mixon or Henry to get into the endzone based on the fact that both defenses they will be facing will not be focusing on them as their primary focus for the game. The Titans are going to want to stop the Bengals passing game and the Bengals are going to want to stop the run, so Mixon and AJ Brown should both find themselves in position to have good days on offense as a result.
If Henry is good to go I think the Titans will ride him hard early in the game and he could be the first one to get into the endzone. The Titans know how dominant Henry is and if he has a big role in the Titans first drive it could plant some seeds of doubt on the Bengals defense.
Joe Burrow has the Bengals offense clicking heading into Tennessee
If the Bengals are going to be in this game I think Burrow is going to be the reason why and i think he has a huge day against the Titans. Teams that have off weeks sometimes show up flat in divisional games and I think this will be the week the casual NFL fan will see how good Burrow and the Bengals are and I like the Bengals to pull off the upset.
