It’s hard to believe that we are at week 16 of the NFL season but here we are with a lot of questions still to be answered. With an extra game on the schedule this year for all teams, things like injuries, and the ability to stay off the covid list are all becoming crucial to determine which teams have staying power. Teams like the Cardinals looked unstoppable early in the year, but they have struggled with injuries down the stretch and they have gone from a Super Bowl favorite to a wild card team. The Chiefs are back at the top with the best Super Bowl odds after winning 7 in a row as Patrick Mahomes and the offense are finally clicking after a slow start. The Packer and Bucs are close behind and look like they could be on a collision course for a rematch in the NFC title game.
An early-season crowded MVP race is starting to clear up as it looks like it will come down once again to Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady. Brady and Rodgers will both be after their fourth MVP and look to be getting better with age. Jonatan Taylor has come on strong over the last month for the Colts and if he continues his current pace he could end up winning the award if voters look to crown a fresh face with the league’s top individual honor.
Joe Burrow looks to end the Bengals playoff drought
This matchup will likely determine the AFC North winner and the odds have shifted heavily in the Bengals way in the last week after Lamar Jackson was ruled out and backup QB Tyler Huntley was ruled out due to entering covid protocols. The Ravens are now down third-string QB Josh Johnson and will have a tough task of trying to beat the Bengals on the road.
The Rams now have a window to win the NFC West after the Cardinals loss and the Vikings are in must-win mode as they hope to cling on to the last wild card spot. Those factors should make this matchup one of the best of week 16 between two teams that are peaking on offense at the right time.
The Bills are right back in the division title race and have a big opportunity in Foxboro
The Patriots were riding high until last weeks set back against the Colts and now they only have a one-game lead over the Bills. Josh Allen and the Bills were early season favorites to come out of the AFC but have struggled with consistency on the offensive line and battled injuries. They looked good in last weeks win over the Panthers and will have a big opportunity to get back into the division title picture with a win over the Patriots on the road
The Bucs will look to bounce back after their worst offensive performance of the season last week against the Saints where they put up zero points. It will be interesting to see if other teams will try to copy the blueprint the Saints defense used against Tom Brady moving forward. Tom Brady has been one of the best in league history in bounce-back games and I suspect he will have a big day against the Panthers.
