The news that sports betting is now fully legal in Louisiana has been warmly welcomed by sports fans in the Bayou State. From 28th January 2022, Louisiana residents can sign up with some of the leading names in the sports betting industry.
But which sportsbooks are currently available and which are likely to launch in Louisiana in the future?
Following the decision to legalize sports betting in Louisiana, operators have been applying for licenses to run sportsbooks in the state. The first five operators to successfully complete the process were:

Please note that the laws surrounding Louisiana sports betting are different from other states. Rather than the law being passed state-wide, each parish in Louisiana had to have their own vote on whether to legalize sports betting. Consequently, there are 56 parishes of Louisiana in which sports betting is legal (this includes New Orleans) and eight in which it is illegal.
If you are in one of the 56 state parishes that have legalized sports betting and you are at least 21 years of age, you are free to sign up for one or more of the above sites.
Louisiana gambling laws have made provisions for up to 41 licensed sports betting operators, so it seems a certainty that many more leading sportsbooks will soon be available in the state.
Already there is a lot of speculation that horse racing specialists TwinSpires will be shortly entering the market, whilst other sources cite Bally Bet as another sportsbook interested in obtaining a Louisiana license.
Whilst there is a degree of uncertainty over which sportsbooks will enter the Louisiana market, it is clearly a great time to be a sports betting fan in the state.
