Is sports betting legal in Shreveport?
As of June, 2021, state bills were passed that paved the way for gambling to be legalized across Louisiana. However, not all of Louisiana was lucky enough to be included in this legislation. As you may be aware, LA consists of 64 administrative parishes where each local council can make their own local rulings and undertake a public vote. The outcome saw 55 parishes opting in to the gambling expansion including
New Orleans
and
Lafayette, but nine opted out. These parishes are Caldwell, Catahoula, Franklin, Jackson, LaSalle, Sabine, Union, West Carroll and Winn. So, Shreveport residents can thank their luck stars that, being in the parish of Caddo, means that you are good to go when it comes to sports betting.
