As suspected we have several teams bouncing around the top of the MLB division standings.
Four of the six divisions look like they will come down to the last week of the season to determine a champion, which is one way to bring the casual fan back to baseball again (in addition to things like the Field of Dreams Game).
Additionally, MLB is surging in popularity in 2021 thanks to expanded sports betting legalization which has made the average mid day baseball game a can’t miss event.

Let’s take a look at some of the MLB divisional betting odds and players to keep an eye on for DFS:
Here are the current available divisional betting odds through BetMGM in NJ and PA:
Red Sox +450
Keep an eye on the Yankees who sit 5 games back of the Rays in the AL East. The Yankees have one of the easiest remaining schedules in and have six games in September against the last place Orioles, in addition to a three game series vs. the Indians and Rangers.
I like the Yankees to continue their hot streak through the month of September and force the AL East crown to come down to the final series vs the Rays in the last week of the season. It may be worth taking a flyer on the Yankees at their current +450 betting odds.
Division of Winning Team
BetMGM also has another prop bet for picking the correct division winner of both the AL and NL.
The big brand divisions like the AL East and NL West typically get all the attention and to no surprise are favored to win their respective Pennants.
AL Pennant Odds:
AL East +135
AL West +145
Al Central +280
We really like the value of the AL Central here as the White Sox have the 2nd best record in the AL and one of the best lineups and pitching staffs. The world saw how explosive this White Sox team can be in the Field of Dreams game, and taking the AL Central at +280 seems like aa good risk / reward play.
We have some slight movement atop the World Series odds in the last week as the Astros are now second at +475 and the Dodgers are down to $300.
If you are looking for some value on a World Series team to bet on consider the Brewers, who are sitting at +900 and have the best statistical starting rotation in baseball.
While they may not match up with the Dodgers, the way the seeding sets up they may end up not having to face them until the NL championship series. If the Brewers were able to move on to the World Series, we would really like the pitching matchups for the Brewers vs any of the AL Teams in a 7 game series.
DFS Players to Keep an Eye On
One thing people often overlook is the quality of opponents players are facing in their matchups. The Reds and Phillies have the easiest remaining schedules over the last 6 weeks of the season and their stars should put up nice numbers. Here are a couple of under the radar the players to keep an eye on:
Zach Wheeler, P, Phillies
Wheeler has quietly had a dominating season for the Phillies and is in the thick of the Cy Young conversation for the NL with Walker Buehler. Wheeler has upper 90s stuff and has finally harnessed his control, yet doesn’t get the national love the big names for the Dodgers do. Wheeler should close out the rest of the regular season strong with each start being a big one for the Phillies who are in a tight NL East division race.
Joey Votto, P, Reds
The Reds have the 2nd easiest remaining schedule and Votto has had a resurgent 2021. We like Votto to finish out the year strong as he closes in on 30 HRs.
