We are down to the final two Monday Night Football games of the year with the Steelers and Browns kicking things off this week in a big AFC North matchup.
The big story heading into this matchup is it appears to be Ben Roethlisberger’s final home game in his remarkable 18-year career. The Steelers have struggled down the stretch offensively, so even if Big Ben wanted to come back it appears that the Steelers would like to move on in another direction.
Big Ben will hope to have a big night on his final game at home
The line is this game has swung back and forth over the past week as a few days ago the Browns were 3 point favorites and now the Steelers are favored by 2.5. Typically when a player of Big Ben’s stature gets a final game at home the team rallies to try and send them off as a winner at home. I think the Steelers and Big Ben will put up a good performance at home against a Browns team that is struggling down the stretch.

The Browns have lost 4 of their last six and have not scored more than 24 points in a game during that stretch. Baker Mayfield supposedly is receiving death threats for his poor play and it looks like the Browns and Mayfield may be headed for divorce this offseason. The Steelers have been equally as bad on offense as Big Ben has shown a noticeable decline in his ability to throw the ball downfield and is playing behind one of the worst offensive lines in football. With the weather conditions in Pittsburgh like they are 2 of these three players should find their way into the end zone in what should be a run-heavy night for both teams. Najee Harris has 984 rushing yards and 6 TDs so far this season and has been the big bright spot for the Steelers offense and Nick Chubb (1,143 yards and 8 TDs) and Kareem Hunt (386 yards and 5 TDs) form one of the best rushing duos in the league.
I like both QB’s to be under the total yard targets for the reasons mentioned above. The Browns offense had a great offensive year last year but have not found the same type of synergy this season as many Browns fans had Super Bowl or bust expectations coming into the year. Since Big Ben’s elbow reconstruction a couple of years ago he doesn’t seem to have the same zip on his balls so I think we will see plenty of screen passes and both teams trying to play the field position game while relying on their defenses to control the game.
Playoff Scenario
The Browns were officially eliminated from the Playoffs yesterday while the Steelers look like they will be left out of the Playoffs as well. The Steelers need to win out and then have help from the Jaguars next week against the Colts, which would be one of the biggest upsets of the year if that were to happen.
