The story of the week in the NBA over the past week has been Steph Curry’s chase of the all-time three-point shooting record. Curry is currently 9 three-pointers behind Ray Allen for the all-time record and should eclipse Allen in the next couple of nights. Curry still likely has another 3-4 years of his prime left so by the time he is done playing his record will likely never be broken.
The Eastern Conference has suddenly become must-watch television this year after years of being dominated by Lebron James-led Heat and Cavs teams that made it out of the East year after year. The ten-seed Boston Celtics (13-13) are only 4.5 games back of the top-seeded Brooklyn Nets (17-8). If the East keeps up this pace we could be in for a great playoff this year between the elite teams at the top in the West and a very deep Eastern Conference. Durant is finally 100% healthy and one of the favorites to win the MVP
The MVP race looks like it will come down to Curry, Durant, and Giannis and the person that stays healthy for the entire season will likely be the person that wins the MVP this year.
The Lakers are 4.5 point favorites on the road and they need to get the win over the Thunder after suffering a disappointing loss on Thursday to the Grizzlies on Thursday. The Lakers’ aging roster looks great one night and horrible the next and it feels like they need to make some major moves with their roster in order to compete with the top teams in the West.
The Hawks had an impressive run in last year’s postseason but are off to a disappointing start and are slightly above .500. Trae Young is having another great year and is averaging 26.3 points a game but the Hawks look like a team that is still a player away from being a serious contender in the East. The Nets will dominate bad teams but have struggled against good teams and this will be a good test and potentially a playoff preview.

Embiid will have his hands full against the Warriors
One of the best games of the weekend features the Warriors heading out East to face the Sixers. Brothers Steph and Seth Curry will have a chance to play one another in what could potentially be an NBA Finals preview. Joel Embiid has looked great when he is on the court this year and the Sixers have the perimeter shooters in Danny Green and Seth Curry that are needed in the playoffs.
The Bucks have been on a tear in recent weeks as Giannis Antetokounmpo looks 100% healthy and is now right behind Steph Curry in the MVP race. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Bucks be leading the Eastern Conference standings by the time we get to the All-Star break and become the favorite once again to make it out of the Eastern Conference. The Knicks had a breakthrough season last year but have struggled this year and this game could provide the confidence booster they need to turn things around.
