The Chiefs head into the season finale looking to get a win after a tough loss last week to the Bengals on the road last week. Kansas City had won 8 in a row heading into last week and looked like the favorite to nab the top seed in the conference. With the loss, they fell behind the Titans and look like they will be in the 2 spot which means they will be playing on Wild Card weekend.
The Broncos have struggled down the stretch and rumors are starting to emerge that this may be it for Broncos head coach Vic Fangio. The Broncos started off the year strong and looked like a playoff team but have struggled over the last month and will likely be looking for a new QB and Coach in the offseason. The Chiefs hope to head into the Playoffs with a win in the finale
The Chiefs have the Bengals on their heels in the AFC playoff race and need a win to stay in the 2 seed while the Broncos have been eliminated from playoff contention. Teams that get eliminated heading into the final week of the season have been known to mail it in during the final week as most have their sights set on their offseason vacation plans. I think the Cheifs will also want to get some momentum heading into next week and get the loss from last week off their minds so I wouldn’t be shocked to see this game get ugly very early.
Hill and Kelce should get the ball early and often and I think the odds are decent that one of them should find the way into the endzone a couple of times. The only concern may be whether or not the Cheifs leave their starters in for the entire game if things get ugly.
Patrick Mahomes to have 300 passing Yards and 3 Passing TDs +430
Mahomes should have a huge day against a Broncos secondary that has struggled over the past month. I think this prop bet has a decent chance to hit as long as the weather conditions hold up in Denver as it looks like there could be rain/snow come game time.
If the Titans get past Houston on Sunday they will secure the number one seed in the AFC which means the Chiefs would host the Chargers next weekend. The Cheifs and Chargers have met twice this season with both teams winning the road matchup, and if we get the third game between these teams it could produce the best playoff game to watch next weekend. Mahomes and Herbert look like the two best QBs in the conference and we should be in store for another shootout.
If the Broncos can bring in a top QB this offseason they may be contenders in 2022
The Broncos brought in Teddy Bridgewater last offseason and things got off to a good start this year but Bridgewater struggled toward the middle of the year and suffered a brutal concussion a few weeks ago which knocked him out for the rest of the season. It doesn’t look like the Broncos are sold on Drew Lock either and there are rumors that have emerged in the last week that the Broncos will be in the market for either Kirk Cousins or Aaron Rodgers this offseason.
The Broncos would have to put together a compelling trade package to both teams and if they could land either QB the Broncos could head into next season as one of the Super Bowl favorites. The Broncos situation is very similar to what it was right before they brought in Peyton Manning with a great supporting cast and only missing a top-flight QB to help put them over the top.
