There are only five more weeks in the 2021 NFL season, and we still have plenty of unanswered questions. Week 13 provided us with some much-needed action, and we saw a matchup between perhaps the two best teams in the AFC. However, almost all of the playoff seeds are up for grabs as we approach the home stretch.
For now, let’s take a look at some injury news and recap a few Week 13 games.

Dallas entered Thursday Night Football having lost three of their four previous games. They need a win against New Orleans, and that’s exactly what they got. CeeDee Lamb and Tony Pollard led the Cowboys on offense as Dallas pulled off the 27-17 road victory.
Dak Prescott still hasn’t looked like himself since returning from a calf injury. He completed 26 of 40 pass attempts against the Saints for 238 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.
Sean Payton decided to start Taysom Hill, which wasn’t the best decision. The BYU product stuck with Dallas through the first half before throwing three interceptions in the second half.
Dan Campbell and Jared Goff did it! For once the late-game magic was on Detroit’s side. The Lions strung together a game-winning drive after surrendering 21 second half points to Minnesota.
Goff connected with rookie wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown for an 11-yard score as time expired. Detroit won 29-27. It’s the first time Goff won a game without Sean McVay as his head coach.
A win is a win, but the Lions came through in ugly fashion. Jared Goff turned the ball over twice, but ten receptions by St. Brown saved the day.
Joe Burrow was the first overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Justin Herbert went several picks later at sixth overall. As rookies, Burrow missed a large chunk of the season with a torn ACL while Herbert won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. Burrow has closed the gap this season, but not entirely.
Herbert’s Chargers took down the Bengals 41-22 on Sunday. Burrow threw two interceptions and lost a fumble in the contest. He also suffered an injury to his pinky finger on his throwing hand. Herbert remained injury-free but also threw an interception. He balanced it out with 317 passing yards and three touchdowns.
Cincinnati and Los Angeles are both 7-5.
When Kyler Murray walked onto Soldier Field in full uniform, he hadn’t suited up for Arizona since the team’s heartbreaking loss to Green Bay in Week 8. The third-year quarterback only attempted 15 passes, but that was more than enough to give Arizona the 33-22 victory.
Murray scored two touchdowns through the air and two on the ground. One of those touchdowns was to DeAndre Hopkins, who also hadn’t played since Week 8.
However, Arizona’s defense stole the show. Cardinals defenders intercepted Chicago’s Andy Dalton four times and amassed three sacks.
Several players suffered injuries in Week 13 or missed the action altogether. Philadelphia started Gardner Minshew at quarterback in place of Jalen Hurts, who was dealing with an ankle injury. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni believes Hurts will return after their bye in Week 14.
Vikings star receiver Adam Thielen missed most of Minnesota’s loss against Detroit because of what Mike Zimmer described as “a sprained ankle.” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero later confirmed it was a high ankle sprain.
The Chargers announced star defensive end Joey Bosa was evaluated for a head injury early in their game against Cincinnati. He didn’t have a concussion, but Brandon Staley kept him sidelined out of an abundance of caution.
Washington believes tight end Logan Thomas suffered a serious knee injury on Sunday. Running back Kenyan Drake broke an ankle in the same game.
Meanwhile, Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey tore his pectoral muscle.
