It’s hard to believe that we are down to the final couple of weeks of the NFL season but here we are with plenty left to be decided. The NFL added an extra game to the schedule this year and depth is certainly playing a factor down the stretch as teams battle injury and covid issues. Teams like the Cardinals and Ravens were early favorites to get to the Super Bowl, but have struggled in the back half of the season due to injury issues.
The Chiefs and Packers got off to slow starts but are both favorites to get to the Super Bowl in their respective conferences. A Packers Chiefs Super Bowl would certainly generate a ton of buzz and could be one of the highest-scoring Super Bowls ever. That being said, when the playoffs come around, crazy things tend to happen and we will likely see a matchup that not many people saw coming by the time we get to early February.
Aaron Rodgers looks like he is on his way to another league MVP in what could be his final year in Green Bay. The Packers season has a “Last Dance” type feel to it with Rodgers having fun and the Packers letting him run the offense with full autonomy. The Packers have been in this position before where things look great late in the year but then lay an egg in the postseason and how far the Packers make it could ultimately be what determines if Rodgers comes back to Green Bay or not.
The Chiefs and Packers have the best odds to win the Super Bowl with two weeks remaining but there are several contenders right behind them that have the talent to make a deep playoff run. The Super Bowl matchup could come down to which teams can stay healthy and also avoid having players in Covid protocols down the stretch. The Colts at +1600 are a team to keep an eye on that could be a nice value play as they seem to be peaking at the right time and RB Jonathan Taylor has emerged as the top RB in the league.
Joe Borrow is playing well at the right time
Joe Burrow threw for over 500 yards in last week’s win against the Ravens and will have another tough test against the Chiefs. The Chiefs have won 8 in a row and this could be a potential playoff matchup that we see later on this month that would likely be at Arrowhead. The Bengals can lock up the division with a win and I think they will find a way to pull off the upset against a Chiefs team that seems due for a setback before the playoffs get started.
Kyler Murray and the Cardinals are needing a big road win in Dallas
The Cardinals head to Dallas to take on the Cowboys and will need to start playing better football if they hope to make it anywhere in the postseason. The Cardinals have lost 3 in a row after a great start to the year and are in the midst of a late-season collapse for the 2nd year in a row. The Cowboys are in the best position in over 25 years to make a deep playoff run and are still in the hunt for the top seed in the NFC. If the Cowboys can make it to the NFC title game this year I suspect many Cowboys fans would celebrate like they won the Super Bowl after suffering for so long.
The Ravens have lost 4 in a row without Lamar Jackson and need to pull off the upset against the Rams if they hope to have any shot to make the AFC playoffs. It is still up in the air is Jackson will be able to play against a Rams squad that will be looking to wrap up the NFC West division and improve their seeding in the NFC playoff race.
