The Bills and Patriots face off for the third time this year in a big wild card matchup in Buffalo.
The Bills lost to the Patriots at home earlier in the year but then won on the road in Foxboro a few weeks ago so this game should be another good one.
It will be a cold night in Buffalo with game-time temperatures expected to be around 10 degrees. Buffalo thrives on throwing the ball downfield and if we end up getting snow it could have a big impact on the type of game we see. The Bills head into the postseason with plenty of momentum winners of four in a row including an impressive 33-21 win on the road in Buffalo. The Bills were early Super Bowl favorites to come out of the AFC before running into a mid-season slump and this could be the year we see the Bills get back to the Super Bowl. On the other hand, if you bet on the Bills, you would be betting against Bill Belichick in the postseason which historically has been a very bad bet. Bellicheck will have his first shot in the playoffs without Tom Brady and I wouldn’t be shocked to see the Patriots play one of their best games on the season on the biggest stage.
Due to the freezing temperatures in Buffalo, I think taking the under is a good bet to consider. Belichick has likely been prepping for this game for 2 weeks and I think he will have a good defensive plan in place to try and limit the big plays from the Bills.
Get Josh Allen Over 243 Yards
Although we could see a low-scoring game in Buffalo I like the odds of Josh Allen having a big night at home and throwing for over 243 yards. As Josh Allen goes so goes the Bills offense and he should have plenty of chances to throw the ball on Saturday night.
If the Bills win I think there is a great chance Allen will have 2 TDs in the air and with them hosting Saturday night I think this is a good bet to take a swing on. As of now, it looks like the snow will hold off so if we have temperatures in the low teens but limited wind or snow, the Bills could have a big night throwing the ball as they did a few weeks ago. The Bills are used to playing in cold temperatures so keep an eye on the weather conditions leading up to game time if you want to make any last-minute bets.
Get the Bills -3
With the Bills being at home I think they will try to find a way to put points on the board early and make the Patriots play from behind. Rookie Mac Jones will be in his first playoff game and rookie QBs typically don’t play that great in first-time playoff games. I like the Bills to get some points early and head into halftime with a score around 10-3 or something similar.
The Patriots missed the playoffs last year for the first time in a long time and this will be the first time without Tom Brady at QB that they try to make a run. It had to hurt watching Tom Brady lead the Bucs to the Super Bowl last season and I think the Patriots are going to be fired up to put up a good performance. I wouldn’t be shocked to see the Patriots pull off the big road upset and make a deep playoff run as their coaching staff and defensive playmakers have all been here before.
