Polymarket Scores with Exclusive Serie A USA Agreement

Polymarket has been named the official partner of Serie A USA in a multi-year agreement.

The prediction market giant follows up on a similar deal with Spain’s La Liga and becomes the exclusive “regional partner” for the Italian soccer league.

Serie A follows La Liga in identical branding deal

The move follows a similar deal Polymarket signed with La Liga North America earlier this year. Polymarket will use official league data supplied by Serie A.

Polymarket also signed a sponsorship deal with the Rome side, Lazio, at the end of April.

Plus, as “exclusive regional partner”, Polymarket will enjoy brand awareness on Serie A’s streaming platforms in the U.S.

‘More participation’ grows sports engagement, says Polymarket

The new Polymarket deal shows a growing trend for “engagement” in live sports data. Prediction markets thrive on savvy gamblers knowing every minute detail to make more informed trades.

Prediction markets “give fans a way to actively interpret the game in real time,” said Polymarket CEO Shayne Coplan. “Partnering with Serie A brings that model to one of the world’s most followed leagues at a moment when American interest in the sport is at an all-time high.”

Soccer audiences on the rise in the US

While casual spectators may be surprised by the partnership with an Italian league, European soccer is on the rise in the U.S.

For the first six months of the 2024-2025 season, over 600 hours of live Serie coverage were broadcast in the U.S. Both CBS and Fox Deportes broadcast live matches during the season.

“The United States represents a key growth market for Serie A,” added Michele Ciccarese, Marketing and Commercial Director of Serie A.

“Our exclusive alliance with Polymarket, as Regional Partner in the USA, lets us engage a new generation of fans through a platform that embodies emerging trends.”

FIFA World Cup timing is no coincidence

The Polymarket deal with Serie A comes just weeks before the start of the FIFA World Cup. The tournament is being co-hosted this year by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Italy endured another torrid qualifying campaign and won’t be appearing. However, soccer fans will still have dozens of matches to place trades on and teams to follow.

Gamblers are expected to bet millions on the World Cup this summer, both at regulated sportsbooks and on the prediction markets.

Kalshi received funding this month, raising its valuation to $22 billion.

However, prediction markets like Polymarket and Kalshi face a few legal hurdles on their way to widespread acceptance.

Several states are pursuing legal action against prediction markets, accusing them of offering illegal betting. State gambling commissions, the states argue, should regulate prediction markets rather than the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

Whatever happens, this summer is likely to be a bonanza for the prediction markets and the savvy traders.
