The SEC College Basketball Double Header kicks of Saturday, February 19th.
The SEC (South Eastern Conference) is currently home to 14 colleges. 11 of those 14 colleges rank in the top one hundred in NET. Kentucky, Auburn, & Tennessee are all in the top ten, while LSU, Alabama, & Arkansas have firm holds in the top thirty. Miss State and Florida are both hovering around 50 (which is the rough cut off mark for the tournament). Next, Texas A&M & Vanderbilt are around 70 (which is a long shot, but still possible). Lastly, South Carolina ranks at 96, which is in the top one hundred, but severely unlikely to make the tournament.
The SEC also has Ole Miss, Missouri, & Georgia in their conference. Although, these schools have already been eliminated from the March Madness tournament, unless they miraculously win the SEC tournament prior. Apart from the double header, the SEC will have four other games be played this Saturday. #2 Auburn takes on Florida, Texas A&M travels north to play Vanderbilt, LSU & South Carolina face off, and Ole Miss heads to Georgia to see who will earn last place in the SEC.
The first matchup this Saturday in the double header will be the Crimson Tide vs the Wildcats. Alabama has upset four top-tier teams this year. However, all of those games were at home or a neutral site. The Crimson Tide are only 2-5 on the road this year, and those two wins were against weaker teams in the SEC (Florida & Ole Miss). their five losses range from good teams like Auburn and Memphis to really bad teams like Missouri and Georgia.
On the other side of the court, Kentucky is undefeated at home (through fifteen games). The Wildcats put up more points per game, bring down more rebounds, and pass, steal, and give up fewer points per game than the Crimson Tide. On top of that Kentucky is lead by Tshiebwe who shoots 60.8% from the field averaging 16.3 points per game at home. Furthermore, he also rebounds 16.1 balls per game (compared to his 13. 9 away). The second game of the double header will have the 19 win Volunteers head east to play the 20 win Razorbacks. Both teams have six losses, though the Volunteers are only four and four on the road this year. Their four losses have all come to top teams (Alabama, LSU, Kentucky, & Texas by only one point). Their four wins have come from lesser teams (Colorado, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Miss. State). Arkansas definitely plays more like one of the better clubs than the latter ones. Therefore, Arkansas has the upper hand with their 14-1 home record.
The Razorbacks are lead by their top shooter, Notae. He shoots 18.8 points per game, and at home performs a hair better in rebounds, blocks, and steals per game. On the other side, Tennessee’s Santiago Vescovi from Montevideo, Uruguay has performed worse on the road. He shoots fewer points per game, has less stills and assists less when playing road games. Overall, the Volunteers don’t match up as well on the road against the Razorbacks.
