Best MLB bets today
Our favorite bets for today's slate of games begin in Michigan with the series finale between the Athletics and Detroit Tigers.
Athletics vs. Detroit Tigers (-135)
This one is pretty simple: the Tigers are hot, having won four straight, while the Athletics are not, having lost five in a row. We like the Detroit moneyline at -135 at Caesars Sportsbook.
Athletics starter Jack Perkins (2-4, 6.75 ERA, 1.45 WHIP) gave up seven runs in his last start, and the club has lost his last four outings, in which he gave up 16 runs in 18 2/3 innings. He and the Athletics’ bullpen, which ranks third-to-last in ERA, will not fare well against a Tigers’ lineup that has scored six runs in each of the two games in this series.
Tigers starter Framber Valdez (4-6, 4.29 ERA, 1.38 WHIP) has given up a total of nine runs in his last two starts, but will be better in this game facing an Athletics lineup that has only totaled three runs in the two games in this series.
Detroit gets out the broom in this one, finishing the series sweep for their fifth win in a row, sending the reeling Athletics to their sixth straight loss.
Seattle Mariners vs. Miami Marlins: Under 8 runs (-110)
The first game of this series went Over, and the second went Under. We like Under 8 runs at BetMGM Sportsbook for this interleague series finale.
The Marlins rank a respectable 12th in the Majors in runs scored, and their lineup was solid in the first four games of their current five-game winning streak. They only scored two runs in beating the Mariners 2-0 in Game 2, and they will not do much at the dish in this game facing Bryce Miller (4-2, 1.71 ERA, 0.66 WHIP) and a Seattle bullpen that ranks fifth in the Majors in bullpen ERA.
Miller pitched seven scoreless innings in his last start and has only given up more than two runs in one of nine starts this season.
Miami starter Janson Junk (3-5, 4.80 ERA, 1.30 WHIP) recently returned from the 15-day injured list, and he only gave up one run in his last start while getting rocked in the previous two. He will be fresh and have a solid outing after coming off the IL. We expect his innings to be limited, though, handing the ball to a Miami bullpen that ranks seventh in bullpen ERA.
Seattle ranks tied for 23rd in runs scored. This series finale will be a lower-scoring affair, which is why the Under is the value pick.
Angels vs. Rangers SGP Picks
Here are our DraftKings Sportsbook same game parlay picks for this series finale, where the Texas Rangers (46-46) host the Los Angeles Angels (37-56).
| Angels vs. Rangers SGP Picks | Odds |
| Rangers to win | -145 |
| Over 7 runs | -115 |
| Nathan Eovaldi 8+ strikeouts | +127 |
According to our Parlay Calculator, this SGP has odds of +607 and an implied probability of winning of 13.95%. A successful $100 bet would net $607 in profit for a total payout of $707.
Key factors to consider for the Angels vs. Rangers same game parlay include:
- The Angels have the second-fewest wins and the fewest road wins in the AL.
- The total has gone Over in both games in this series.
- Texas starter Nathan Eovaldi (9-7, 4.02 ERA, 1.17 WHIP) has given up at least three runs in seven of his last eight starts.
- L.A. starter Reid Detmers (3-6, 4.13 ERA, 1.11 WHIP) has given up five runs in two of his last three starts.
- The Angels rank 26th in the Majors in bullpen ERA.
- Eovaldi has nine strikeouts in each of his last three starts.
- The Angels’ lineup has the most strikeouts.
