How these teams have fared recently
The Yankees (29-19) won Game 1, but have lost seven of their last 10 games. They are now in second place in the AL East, three games back of the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Blue Jays (21-26) came one win away from a World Series title last season. However, they have struggled out of the gates this season — five games under .500 and already 10.5 games out of first place in the division.
On the season, the Bronx Bombers are 15-6 at home, and the Blue Jays are 8-15 on the road.
At many of the top online sportsbooks, the Yankees have the second-best odds to win the World Series.
New York takes 1st game
The Yankees won the opener of this AL East series, beating the Blue Jays 7-6 in the first game of the season between these rivals. New York was back home after a 2-7 road trip, and in the win, Cody Bellinger and Jazz Chisholm Jr. each hit 2-run homers in the seventh inning.

Pitching Matchup
Dylan Cease (3-1, 2.41 ERA, 1.18 WHIP) takes the mound for the Blue Jays on Tuesday. In his last start, Cease was solid, giving up one run on three hits in seven innings of a 5-3 extra-innings win over the Tampa Bay Rays. He has only given two runs over his last two starts while striking out 19 batters.
This is Cease’s first season with the Blue Jays. With the San Diego Padres last season, he faced the Yankees once in New York, giving up one run in 6 1/3 innings.
Will Warren (5-1, 3.32 ERA, 1.16 WHIP) gets the nod for the Yankees. He allowed two runs on four hits in 5 2/3 innings of a 6-2 road win over the Baltimore Orioles in his latest outing. Warren was lit up for a season-high six runs in his previous start, but has given up two runs in four of his last five starts.
Issues at the dish
Last season, in their march to the World Series, the Blue Jays scored the fourth-most runs, but this season they sit tied for 24th.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (.385, 3 home runs, 20 RBIs) leads the club in batting average, but his power numbers are down, and he has only five hits in the last seven games.
George Springer (.196, 3 home runs, 9 RBIs) went yard in Game 1 of the series, but is hitting below the Mendoza line and only has three long balls after a combined 51 in the last two seasons.
Back in the saddle
The Yankees have a loaded lineup, but they were not getting it done for a while before totaling 13 runs in the last two games.
Reigning AL MVP Aaron Judge (.266, 16 home runs, 30 RBIs) ranks third in the Majors in homers, but has not gone deep and has no RBIs over the last six games.
Ben Rice (.298, 15 home runs, 31 RBIs) is right behind Judge with 15 dingers and has two in the last four games.
Slugger Giancarlo Stanton (.266, 3 home runs, 14 RBIs) is on the 10-day injured list and has only played in 24 games this season due to injuries.
PlayersBest Prediction: Under 8.5 runs
We're taking the Under in this game with a potential pitcher's duel ahead. The Blue Jays have struggled at the dish all season long and both pitchers have been terrific.
Cease has only given up one run in his last two starts, and Warren has given up exactly two runs in four of his last five starts.
Unlike the series opener, the second game will be a low-scoring affair, so the Under is the pick.
Blue Jays vs. Yankees player prop picks
Here are some player prop bets we like at FanDuel Sportsbook:
- Will Warren 6+ strikeouts (+124 ) or 7+ strikeouts (+260) – He ranks 12th in the Majors in strikeouts, and has 7.8 Ks over his last five starts. The Blue Jays struck out 13 times in the series opener.
- Jazz Chisholm Jr. to record a hit (-135) – While he is only batting .237, Chisholm Jr. has heated up at the dish with at least two hits in each of the last four games.
