Yordan Alvarez, Astros (+270)
Astros’ slugger Yordan Álvarez is an All-Star starter as the designated hitter and ranks second in the Majors in home runs with 29. He has three homers in the last four games and has solid value to go deep tonight on the road facing the Washington Nationals.
While the Nationals’ starter for this game, Foster Griffin (9-2, 2.87 ERA, 1.04 WHIP), is having a solid season on the mound, he has given up three home runs over his last five starts, including one in his last outing.
What also adds value to the bet is that the Washington bullpen, which only ranks 26th in the Majors, has given up by far the most home runs. That unit has surrendered 65 long balls while Tampa Bay’s bullpen has given up the second-most at 56.
Riley Greene, Tigers (+382)
While the Tigers’ Riley Greene has only 13 home runs on the season, he is swinging a hot bat and has four of them in the last five games.
The main reason Greene has solid value is that he will be facing Athletics’ starter Jeffrey Springs (3-8, 5.79 ERA, 1.38 WHIP) and an Athletics bullpen that has given up the fifth-most home runs. To say that Springs has had issues giving up the long ball would be like saying Shohei Ohtani is pretty good. Major understatement. In Springs’ last six starts, he has given up 12 home runs, and he has given up at least three home runs in three outings on the season.
While the Tigers’ duo of Dillon Dingler (19 home runs) at +329 and Spencer Torkelson (14 home runs) at +364 are not as hot at the plate as Greene has been as of late, they have more home runs and are also good value bets with Spring’s issues giving up the long ball.
Ben Rice, Yankees (+430)
While the Rays’ Junior Caminero, who ranks tied for fourth in the Majors in home runs, has decent value at +271, we think the Yankees' Ben Rice has much better value at +430.
Rice is tied with Caminero with 26 home runs, has gone yard in each of the first two games this series facing Tampa Bay, and has five dingers in the last five games. He will face Rays’ starter Shane McClanahan (7-5, 3.05 ERA, 1.17 WHIP), who didn't give up any home runs in his last start but three in the one before that.
What adds value, as we mentioned before, is that the Tampa Bay bullpen has given up the second-most home runs.
