Favorites to win the NBA championship

Here, we break down some of the betting favorites atop the NBA championship oddsboard.

San Antonio Spurs (+250)

The Spurs lost to the Knicks in five games in the NBA Finals, but they are still very young and beat the defending-champion Thunder in the Western Conference finals.

Victor Wembanyama finished third in MVP voting and won Defensive Player of the Year. At only 22 years old, he now has finals experience. San Antonio has a great young core, including De'Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle, Devin Vassell, and Dylan Harper.

Oklahoma City Thunder (+260)

The Thunder came close to another finals appearance, taking the Spurs to Game 7 of the WCF. However, MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had a down series, and second-leading scorer Jalen Williams was injured. OKC still has the talent, but needs its key guys to be healthy. The conference finals showed that Chet Holmgren has to be more aggressive.

Boston Celtics (+600)

The Celtics were a little surprising last season, finishing second in the East even without Jayson Tatum for most of the season. He played well in his return, and a season removed from his Achilles tear, he and Jaylen Brown lead a solid and balanced Boston team.

New York Knicks (+650)

The defending champions have the fourth-best NBA championship odds at DraftKings and other betting sites. Can finals MVP Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns lead them to another magical run? They were dominant in the playoffs last season, winning 15 of 16 games after going down 2-1 to the Atlanta Hawks in the first round. New York will have its core back, with the Big Apple behind it, for another title run.

Denver Nuggets (+2500)

The Nuggets flamed out of the first round of the playoffs, and it showed they need some players. They still have stars Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, but picking up more scoring options this offseason should be a priority for the Nuggets.

Indiana Pacers (+2800)

While the Pacers finished second-last in the East last season, they were crushed by injuries. If healthy, they have a good young core, and star Tyrese Haliburton will be back after missing the last campaign. He tore his Achilles tendon in Game 7 of the 2024-2025 NBA Finals.

Sleeper picks in NBA championship odds

  • Los Angeles Lakers (+3000) – Injuries in the playoffs derailed a solid season, and while Luka Doncic is still in the fold, there are questions surrounding LeBron James staying in L.A. and the contract extension for Austin Reaves.
  • Houston Rockets (+6000) – A bit of a reach here, but the Rockets are another team with a solid young core, and Kevin Durant missed five of six playoff games with an injury.

2026-27 NBA championship prediction: Thunder (+260)

OKC was one win away from a return trip to the finals, but lost in Game 7 to the Spurs. They were without second-leading scorer Jalen Williams and Ajay Mitchell, who averaged 15.1 ppg in the finals.

The Spurs are ascending, but the Thunder still have SGA and remain loaded. They will be healthy and win it all next season for their second title in three years.
