Stanley Cup Odds 2027: Defending Champion Hurricanes Open as Favorites

The 2025-2026 season concluded with the Carolina Hurricanes winning their second Stanley Cup, beating the Vegas Golden Knights in the final.

The top online sportsbooks already have Stanley Cup odds for 2027, giving futures bettors a chance to wager on which team will hoist Lord Stanley’s Cup next season. 

FanDuel Sportsbook gives the defending champion Hurricanes the best odds to win the Stanley Cup next season at +700.

Betting favorites in Stanley Cup odds

After the Canes, the teams with the best odds to win the Stanley Cup are the Colorado Avalanche (+800), Vegas Golden Knights (+850), Florida Panthers (+1100), Edmonton Oilers (+1100), and Tampa Bay Lightning (+1200). 

Hurricanes (+700)

Carolina is in a solid position to compete for the Stanley Cup for years with their key players locked in.

One interesting unrestricted free agent is Frederik Andersen, who was a force in the playoffs before struggling in the final. He didn't play in the last three games. 

Avalanche (+800)

The Avs had the most points in the NHL this season, but were swept in the Western Conference finals by Vegas.

Nathan MacKinnon leads a solid offense, but the defense is an issue. There are only four defensemen under contract for next season, and superstar D-man Cale Makar is eligible for a contract extension this summer and will be expensive to keep. 

Golden Knights (+850)

While the Golden Knights made the final, they may have some issues this summer. Vegas only has $4.25 million in cap space. Top defenseman Rasmus Andersson is an unrestricted free agent. Pavel Dorofeyev, who ranked second in playoff goals, and Akira Schmid are restricted free agents. 

Panthers (+1100)

Captain Aleksander Barkov will be back on the ice after missing all of last season with an injury.

Florida will likely be busy this summer with over $15 million in cap space. The goalie duo of Sergei Bobrovsky and Daniil Tarasov are both unrestricted free agents. 

Oilers (+1100)

The Oilers have the star duo of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl up front, but there are issues to address. The defense needs some help, and key defenseman Darnell Nurse requested a trade during the playoffs. 

Lightning (+1200)

Tampa Bay has a solid squad that ranked in the top four last season in goals and goals against, but also has some questions.

They lost defender Darren Raddysh in a sign-and-trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs after he posted 22 goals and 70 points last year.

The other is ponying up money for Hart Trophy winner Nikita Kucherov, who will be a free agent next summer. 

Sleeper picks in Stanley Cup odds

• Minnesota Wild (+1400) – The Wild finished with the third most points in the West last season and have talent, but a lot of free agents as well.
• Pittsburgh Penguins (+5500) – OK, major sleeper with long odds here. However, the Pens made the playoffs last season, Sidney Crosby had a solid campaign, and Evgeni Malkin re-signed after an injury-marred season. The team also has $38 million in cap space and a ton of draft capital to use in trades.

2027 Stanley Cup winner prediction: Avalanche (+800)

Colorado had the most points in the NHL last season but hit a snag in the Western Conference finals.

The Avs have a ton of talent up front on the attack, and general manager Joe Sakic will make some moves to shore up the defense.

Next season, the Avs will put it all together and win their first Stanley Cup since 2022.
