UFC 270’s highly anticipated clash sees two of the best heavyweights ever face off for the division title this Saturday January 22nd in Anaheim, California as Francis Ngannou defends his belt vs. Ciryl Gane. This is should be a great night of fights that also includes a co-main with Brandon Moreno defending his fly-eight title for the first time in a trilogy matchup against Deiveson Fiueiredo. Make sure you’re getting the best odds for any of the UFC 270 fights with our UFC live odds comparison tool which shows you the latest odds and allows you to compare them across multiple sportsbooks.
Many are calling this the greatest heavyweight matchup of all time in the UFC. A big reason for this is not just how impressive each fighter has been, but their tenuous history together as well. Both men were once sparring and training partners in Paris before Ngannou left to the states. Since then each camp has said their fighter was better of the two, but we will ultimately find out on Saturday.
Gane is undefeated in his seven fights since joining the UFC and Ngannou has won his last five in a row. Their dominance at this weight class is about the only thing these two fighters have in common though.
Gane is a possibly the most well rounded and technical fighter that has ever been seen in this division. He can get a win multiple different ways, and is smart enough to disarm a one dimensional fighter and keep himself out of adverse situations. two of his last three fights went all five rounds and he won by unanimous decision in both after dominating those fights.
Ngannou on the other hand is a mauler who looks to overwhelm his opponents and finish fights early with his incredible striking power. Four of his last five fights didn’t even make it into the second round, and the fifth was ended less than a minute into the second. All five opponents were KO’d by punches.
Many were surprised that sports betting sites have Ngannou as an underdog at +125 and Gane as the favorite at -145. I’m not one of them as Gane is the superior fighter, but Ngannou only needs to land one good strike to end this contest. “The Predator” knows to win he needs to come out swinging, if Gane can make it out of the first two rounds he will win this fight.
I’m looking to take Ngannou by TKO at +165 or Gane by decision at +250.
This is a familiar matchup for fans and these two fighters alike as it’s the third time in a row that they’ve squared off. The first was back in Decemeber of 2020 and ruled a draw, although Figueiredo likely would’ve won barring a points deduction. The second was won by Moreno after the “assassin baby” submitted Figueiredo in the third round.
Moreno is far and above the superior grappler between these two, but Figueiredo has the edge of he can stay on his feet. Moreno may be the favorite at -180, but I would look to take the underdog at +155 from one of our top UFC betting sites.
It should be noted that this time around Figueiredo has decided to train and do his camp with Henry Cejudo and this should have him even better prepared. Don’t be surprised to see this upset come to fruition on Saturday night.
