The Current middleweight champion Israel Adesanya defends his belt against Robert Whittaker this Saturday February 12th at UFC 271. The co-main is an exciting matchup between two dangerous heavyweights Derrick Lewis and Tai Tuivasa, and two more highly ranked middleweights square off when Jared Cannonier and Derek Brunson meet in the octagon.
We’re giving you a round up of all three fights and some knockout bets that you can place that guarantee you’ll be a winner. Be sure to check out live odds comparison tool for all of the best UFC odds as well.
Back in 2019 Robert Whittaker was the champion of the middleweight division before Israel Adesanya started his reign by knocking him out in the second round. Since then the “Style Bender” has defended his belt three times to remain undefeated as a middleweight.
Whittaker’s also won three straight fights since the 2019 loss and the “Reaper” looked at top form during his last outing vs. Kelvin Gastelbum. in the win he was able to overwhelm Gastelbum, out striking him 150-62 along with taking him down on four separate occasions. Whittaker is a technical kickboxer, loves to throw strikes and get in opponents faces, and although it’s overlooked, is a great wrestler as well.
However, Adesanya kickboxing ability is on another level. He is likely the best striker currently in the UFC and had an illustrious kickboxing career before making the move to the octagon. The top bookmakers have Israel as a heavy favorite at -265 for a good reason. He dominated Whittaker in their first matchup and holds a reach advantage which is hard to overcome.
While there’s not much money to be made taking Adesanya straight up, I would take him at +175 to win by KO or TKO.
UFC 271 takes place in Houston, Texas, so it only makes sense to invite Houston’s own Derrick Lewis to the party. He gets to face up and coming Tai Tuivasa in what should be a hard hitting heavyweight matchup.
Tuivasa’s riding a four fight win streak, and sic of his last seven wins have come via KO. Lewis holds the all time UFC record for most KOs with 13. His strong performance history has him as the favorite to win at -180, but Tuivasa isn’t far off as the best online betting sites are giving him +155 odds.
Either of these fighters could finish things Saturday with a single punch, but I like the red hot Tuivasa to continue his climb. Take him to win by KO again in his biggest matchup yet at +260.
Jared Cannonier is ranked #3 in the middleweight division. Derek Brunson is #4. Both of these men know they could be challenging the winner of the main event soon if they can collect a big win on Saturday. Cannonier is 4-1 in his last five, while Brunson is a perfect 5-0.
Take Brunson for the upset at +142. He has a height and reach advantage that shouldn’t be overlooked. The southpaw is also the more well rounded fighter in my opinion and has the better cardio which should come in handy if this fight goes the distance.
