The Saints and Cowboys square off in the Thursday Night game and both teams will be looking to turn things around after their midseason slides. The Saints have lost 4 in a row and are on the brink of falling out of contention in the NFC Wildcard picture. The Cowboys have lost 3 of 4 after a 6-1 start and hope to turn things around in New Orleans.
Here is a quick video preview of what to keep an eye out for in the big NFC matchup:

The Cowboys have struggled in New Orleans in recent years
The Cowboys are 6 point road favorites as they head into an environment where they have not had a ton of success in recent years. The Cowboys last win in New Orleans was in 2009 when Tony Romo was under center. This Saints team is without Drew Brees though, and their offense has been struggling since Jameis Winston went out with a torn ACL against the Bucs in Week 7.
Ceasars is currently offering a 100% risk-free bet up to $5000 which is worth considering if you have a good feeling about the game.
The Saints put up a historically bad offensive performance under Head Coach Sean Payton last week by scoring only six points in a 31-6 loss against the Bills. Sean Payton likely has a bad taste in his mouth from last Thursday and will come in with an aggressive game plan against the Cowboy’s defense. The Saints biggest weakness on defense is their defensive backfield and which should give the Cowboys the opportunity to put up plenty of points through the air. I think this will be a high-scoring game and taking the over is something to consider.
Taysom Hill will get the start for the Saints after recovering from a foot injury over the last several weeks and this may be his last chance to show his worth as a starting QB in the NFL. Hill will be without the game’s most versatile running back in Alvin Kamara, which will mean HIll will have to throw the ball downfield to keep the Saints in the game. Hill went 3-1 last season as a fill-in for Drew Brees when he was out with an injury and threw for 233,78,291, and 232 in his four starts so he has shown he can move the ball. The Saints are going to be in pass-first mode for most of the night and I think Taysom will throw for 250 plus yards or more. Amari Cooper was cleared to play this week after missing the past few weeks due to Covid protocols and will be a welcome sight to Dak Prescott who will have both CeeDee Lamb and Cooper to distribute the ball to on the outside. The Saints allowed 31 points to the Bills and 40 points to the Eagles and I think they will struggle once again on the backend stopping the Cowboys’ playmakers and Cooper should easily get more than 50 yards.
The Saints are facing an uphill battle in this game without Alvin Kamara who is Mr. do it all for the Saints offense. Sean Payton has the reputation of getting very aggressive with the offensive play calling in games like this where the Saints will need to steal a possession or two. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some plays like a halfback pass, flea-flicker, or fake punts early in the game as the Saints try to limit the Dallas offense’s time with the ball.

The Cowboys will be shorthanded on their Coaching Staff Thursday Night
Cowboys coach Mike Mccarthy will miss the game after testing positive for Covid and former Falcons coach Dan Quinn will serve as interim coach for the game. Offensive line coach Joe Philbin and Joe Blasko will also miss the game so it will be interesting to see if there are any sort of communication issues early on that could impact the Cowboys getting off to a good start in the game.
