The last matchup this Wildcard Weekend, Cardinals at Rams, will be played Monday night. Whoever wins this game will head to Lambeau Field to take on the Packers in the snow next week. Last week the Cardinals lost to the Seahawks 38-30. If they would have won the game, they would have won the NFC West because the Rams lost. But the Cardinals are sputtering out, losing four of their last five games. The Rams lost to the 49ers in overtimes, which ended up not influencing their playoff position. However, it did help San Francisco clinch the last wild card spot over New Orleans. Cardinals at Rams Monday Night to end the first round of the playoffs.
Cardinals at Rams took place in Week Four when Arizona won 37-20. In this game, the Cardinals ran all over the Rams with 209 rushing yards and two touchdowns (120 yards to Edmunds and two touchdowns/50 yards to James Conner). Murray also rushed for 39 yards and threw two touchdowns (WR Green & TE Williams). The Cardinals defense had two turnovers and held Kupp to only 64 total yards. Stafford played alright, yet did manage two touchdowns (Woods & Van Jefferson).
In Week 14 the Rams traveled to Arizona and the game played out completely different. The Rams won 30-23 with Kupp letting loose (13 catches for 123 yards and a touchdown). Van Jefferson and Odell Beckham Jr. also scored touchdowns, while Stafford did not turn the ball over once. The Cardinals were lead mainly by James Conner with two more touchdowns and almost 100 yards in the air alone, & Matt Prater who kicked two field goals over 50 yards.
The Cardinals started off the year undefeated through seven games, until they met their match in a close game to Green Bay. The end of their year was hairy, dropping all but their game in Dallas (25-22) out of the last five. The main source of their inefficiency has been because of injuries. Kyler Murray was out for the middle of the season and has been playing injured. The Cards have also been without Hopkins (for the season), Edmunds (until probably this game), Watt (until probably this game), and a few of their great starting offensive lineman were out but now all return. With more players returning from injury, the Cardinals look more like they did earlier in the year.
On the other side, the Rams won five in a row before falling to the 49ers last week. Los Angeles found themselves on the right side of injuries in the year, but this week they will be without starting NT Sebastian Joseph-Day and safety Jordan Fuller. Also key players like Stafford, Donald, Floyd, Rapp, & Darious Williams all hold the questionable tag, and even if they do play, will not be 100%.
Cardinals are looking like they can take the spread easily since they have covered the spread in all but one away game this year. Also, when the Rams are the favorites to win, Los Angels covers the spread only 40% of the time.
With more and more Cardinals coming back from injury, and more and more players going out/ listed as questionable for the Rams, the Cardinals are starting to look more like favorites for this game. Especially since the Cardinals are a miraculous 8-1 on the road this year. Unfortunately when the Rams are playing at home they actually give up more points on defense and score less points themselves. When the Cardinals have been expected to lose this year, they have won all six of their games. The stats say pick the Cards. You can always find great football betting picks from our experts here.
Conner is good at scoring on the Rams. He has scored four touchdowns in two games against them this year alone. With the starting NT declared out, it should only be easier.
WR Jefferson has scored in both matchups against the Cardinals so far this year. Read above for why Arizona will win.
