The Russian hockey team has been a force in hockey over the last 50 years and will look to repeat as Gold Medal winners with what looks like is a loaded roster once again.
The NHL is not allowing players to play in the Olympics this year which means teams like Russia that have a solid professional league have an advantage over other countries that don’t have as much depth in their country of professional players. The USA is a long shot with +1600 odds to win the gold and their roster will mostly be comprised of college and professional players that are playing in European leagues.

Figure Skating is one of the biggest events at the Winter Olympics
Even if you aren’t a figure skating fan the women’s competition has provided some entertaining moments over the years and is one of the most-watched competitions at the Winter Games. Russia has three skaters that are ranked in the top 4 in the world rankings and will look to sweep the podium as they did in the 2021 World Championships.
Japan’s Khira Rika is and Kaori Sakamoto is ranked in the top ten for Japan and both have the talent to make a run at the gold. Karen Chen is currently ranked 8th in the World and will be looking to bring home the gold for the USA. Karen finished 11th at the 2018 winter Olympics after being one of the top favorites and heads into the 2022 games with plenty of motivation.
Nathan Chan finished fifth at the 2018 Winter Olympics and has become of the best men’s figure skaters in the US since Scott Hamilton in the 1980s. Chan is the favorite to bring home the gold in the 2022 games as heads into the Olympics with plenty of momentum after winning three consecutive world championships.
Alex Ferreira won the silver medal in the 2018 Olympics and will be looking to bring home the gold in 2022 for the USA. Ferreira has been a force in the X games in recent years winning first in the last two ski superpipe events. Alex Hall is another US athlete to keep an eye on during the men’s freestyle competitions. Hall grew up in Switzerland and has skied from a very young age and competes in the Slopestyle and Big Air competitions.

The Bobsled is one of the most entertaining Winter Olympic events
The men and women bobsled competitions are always some of the most entertaining winter Olympic competitions to watch and will take place from February 13th to February 20th. The USA has a great shot to bring home the gold in the womens competitions as they are led by four time olympian’s Elana Taylor and Kaillie Humphries.
Norway is the heavy favorite to win the overall gold medal count and improve their all-time medal lead over other countries since the Winter Olympics started. Norway has won 368 total medals since the first Olympic games in 1924. The United States is second historically with 305 medals with Germany and Russia closely behind.
