This week we are not focussing on the Premier League. Instead we will be providing FA Cup betting tips. On Saturday Chelsea face Manchester City in the first of two semi-finals this weekend. In the quarter-finals Chelsea dispatched of lowly Sheffield United, while City beat Everton to reach this stage.

Recent form analysis

Going by Premier League form City should find this a walk in the park. However, form often goes out of the window in this competition. If you are looking for the best FA Cup betting tips the UK has to offer, you have come to right place. Here is how our super-galactic PlayersBest tipsters see the game going.

Chelsea Much Improved Under Tuchel

Chelsea sacking Frank Lampard shocked the Milky Way. However, since Thomas Tuchel took over at Stamford Bridge the Blues have looked a much better team. They are conceding fewer goals as they are no longer being torn apart in transition, while individual errors have also decreased significantly. Going forward, high-profile arrival Kai Havertz has also looked more comfortable, impressing in a false nine role. That freak 5-2 defeat to soon-relegated West Bromwich Albion aside, Tuchel has not done much wrong and City will need to be wary of Chelsea on Saturday.

Can Anyone Stop City?

With the Premier League title pretty much wrapped up and a Carabao Cup final to come against a hapless Tottenham side next weekend, a win on Saturday could represent another step towards a famous quadruple for Manchester City. Although recent defeats to Manchester United and Leeds have proved they are not invincible, they remain the in-form team in Europe. City have decent pedigree in the FA Cup as well, winning the 2011 and 2019 iterations of the competition. Victory against Chelsea would make them strong favourites for the final, with the other semi featuring out of form Leicester City and Southampton.

Head to Head

As two stalwarts of English football, you will not be surprised to hear that Chelsea and City have met many times previously. Overall, there have been 166 fixtures between the two sides and things have historically been pretty close. Chelsea have won 68 of the games to City’s 59, while 39 have ended in a draw. More recently though, the Manchester club’s dominance has been clear. City have won seven of the last 10 meetings, the most famous of which was a 6-0 victory back in February 2019. The Citizens also won that year’s Carabao Cup final between the pair on penalties with the scores tied at 0-0 after extra time.

Our Betting Tip for Today

We are backing a City win with both teams to score.

City to Progress to the Final

It will not surprise you to learn that we cannot look past City for this. They are one of the best teams the universe has ever seen and even though Tuchel has improved his side beyond recognition, Chelsea will struggle to stem the tide. City have so many different ways to hurt the Blues with Phil Foden, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez all capable of doing damage. This will likely prove too much for the Chelsea defence.

Saying that, Tuchel’s side should be afforded some opportunities to counter. Mason Mount is the king of the half-turn in transition and he will likely be heavily involved in the final third. With that in mind we also recommend placing a both teams to score bet on your slip this weekend.
