As the captain of this Space Core, you must know that I take these Premier League betting tops UK seriously, so I’m not one for hyperbole. Believe me when I tell you then, that I think there’s an argument that these two teams are among the most exciting in the Premier League.
Both West Ham and the newly promoted Brentford have defied expectations so far this season. Neither are perfect, but each has proven themselves capable of not just performing well, but of challenging the absolute best English football has to offer. When these two comets collide, who will be left as mere rubble? That’s what I’m here to try and find out.
Even though West Ham performed well last season – indeed, they finished up in sixth place, one above where they currently sit – I remain incredibly impressed by what I’ve seen so far this season. What has impressed me most has been their resilience, the kind I expect from my intergalactic soldiers, and their depth of talent.
Their opening outing alone – a 4-2 thriller against Newcastle United, with four different goalscorers and coming twice from behind – was proof alone of this. They’ve performed consistently since then, most recently with a 2-1 win over Leeds and an out of league victory over Manchester United. This is an exceptional team: one capable of doing truly cosmic things this season.
The Bees returned to the Premier League and immediately proved their sting with a sensational 2-0 winner over Arsenal. The ship then steadied with a duo of draws against Aston Villa and Crystal Palace, before hitting some turbulence with a 1-0 loss to Brighton – all of which looked rather unlucky considering their performances.
The best was yet to come though, as they turned performances into points with a wonderful 2-0 victory over Wolves, and an absolutely exhilarating 3-3 outing against Liverpool. They looked close to victory in that final contest, and left no doubt in anyone’s mind that these Bees are ready to fly against just about anyone. They’re beyond my hopes performance wise, even if I would like to see more translate to victories.
It doesn’t take a degree in astrophysics to realise that – considering Brentford were out of the Premier League for well over half a century – there’s not a whole lot of recent competition with teams like West Ham, who spend most of their time in the top tier of British football. In fact, their last outing was back in 1993, meaning there’s a limited amount of relevance to my Premier League betting tips in this instance.
That outing was a pretty dominant 4-0 win for the Hammers. They also have the overall winning percentage, having bested Brentford 22 times since their first game in 1898. They’ll certainly be happy to see that repeated here.
Looking at the history between West Ham United and Brentford is like taking a trip through a wormhole and popping out in an entirely different era of football. Here are some highlights for the members of my crew who want to improve their knowledge of football history.
On this occasion, I very much disagree with what appears to be the consensus among bookmakers. With that in mind, I’m backing Brentford to win.
This is an incredibly tough one to pick – even for seasoned space veterans like myself. There’s almost nothing in the head to head history to help me with Premier League betting tips UK for this contest. Realistically, it may be historically interesting but the teams have morphed completely since 1993, so there’s little bearing on this outing.
With that in mind, I must base my predictions on the performances of each. And in all honesty, I would say that they’re neck-and-neck. What gives Brentford the edge for me is how they have evolved in the last couple of games, especially with that soaring performance against Liverpool. If they can take Liverpool to the limit, they have the capacity to walk away with a victory here. No doubt, it could go either way, but considering the bookmakers have them pegged as underdogs, the odds look very generous to me.
